Dinosaur fans will have a roar-some time at this year’s Lord Mayor’s Festival. Celebrating the appointment of Plymouth’s new Lord Mayor on Saturday 26 May, this annual event offers the perfect family day out.
Come and meet Tiny, a 125 million years young dinosaur brought to life by the wonders of modern science. You can pet her, you can feed her, you can talk to her in dinosaur language; just make sure you avoid the dreaded Thagomizer or you might end up extinct yourself! Tiny will be appearing in the Piazza where you’ll find a jam-packed programme of entertainment to enjoy during the day, including performances from local community groups.
Young explorers will also love the opportunity to uncover fossils in their own dinosaur dig and learn all about prehistoric creatures in the Science Dome – and don’t forget to follow the dinosaur trail for the chance to win some great prizes.

A Science Dome will be offering half hour shows. The show includes immersive full dome 360 degree images of dinosaurs. A giant 360 degree projector is used to walk through a dinosaur landscape.
The show starts with time travel back to the Jurassic times and pictures of early earth landscapes. The programme then gives an interactive introduction to dinosaurs and talks about the fossils in the local Jurassic coast. 360 degree pictures of dinosaurs are used in the show.
The show ends with possible ways of dinosaur extinction such as a large meteorite. We then look at the stars using the planetarium. Observe many shooting stars and the night’s sky.
